Nov - Dec 2006 Release of public material We sent letters informing about the potential danger of the upcoming developments in the coffee business to:

- seco, Switzerland
- ECF, Amsterdam
- open letter to the parliament in Switzerland

Aug - Dec 2005 Expand contact in coffee producing countries On political and business level, in Asia, Africa, South and Central America, we had the opportunity to present the proposal of the Coffee Fund to new contacts and receive mostly positive feedback.
July - Sep 2005 Analysis of the Common Code We published an Analysis of the 4Cs and discussed it in writing with the MU of the 4Cs and the BMZ, the German Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation
May 2005 Discussion at ICO Meetings, PSCB and Executive Board
16 to 20 May 2005
The Coffee Fund was discussed among the producing countries of the ICO as an alternative to increase sustainability in coffee production.
Discussions in the PSCB and the Executive Board did not bring the desired breakthrough, but had a positive effect to increase awareness that the Coffee Fund is a neutral alternative supported by a wide range of institutions.

 

March 2005 Reword the origin and consumption programmes With the inputs received from the origin countries, the roasters and at the ICO, we will re-edit the programmes and publish them.
February, 2005 Request from the Swiss Government to withdraw financial contribution to 4C project. Due to the fact that the 4C project has not come up with a solid business plan and the ideas within the leading personalities of 4C seem to diverge considerable, we are requesting the Swiss Government to withdraw its financial contribution promised to 4C.
25 January, 2005  Presentation to the PSCB, at the ICO in London In a 30 minutes presentation, the Coffee Fund was explained in detail to the world's leading personalities in coffee matters. A resolution was taken that we should continue our efforts and continue to report.

2004

   
November to December, 2004 We submitted a formal proposal to the roasters. The world 's 7 largest roasting companies received a full documentation about our proposal. By the end of the year, we received three responses informing that they are already actively supporting sustainable projects in the origins. One roaster received us for a discussion of our proposal. The remaining three have not responded at all.
Fall, 2004 Discussion with the coffee representatives of the producing countries We analyzed our initial proposal for the projects to be implemented in the coffee producing area and amended the programme based on the many inputs received.

Meeting with Mr. Nestor Osorio, Executive Director of the ICO Walter Zwald and Urs Küchler had the opportunity to meet Mr Osorio in his office and discuss extensively the details for the Coffee Fund. We also analyzed the strategy for the coming months.

Meetings among the “Coffee Team” Detail research, contact with people from the field, discussions with key people in the coffee industry, planning and setting up schema of the fund.
June 04 Informal gatherings between Walter Zwald, Christian Ryman, Albert Ryman and Urs Küchler Agreement to pursue original idea of Walter Zwald
